First Ideas is a family business based in Wantage, Oxfordshire. It is run by Howard Hill and was first started in 1997.
At First Ideas, we love to work with small business and enjoy a friendly, non-technical relationship with our customers.
Our methods are flexible and we often get involved in the wider aspects of the job, such as digital photography, scanning, multimedia and technical authoring.
Most of our customers are local; in and around Wantage, Oxfordshire and the OX12 villages (with East and Wests!) such as Challow, Charney Bassett, Grove, Hanney, Hendred, Letcombe and Wantage, and a little further away: Abingdon, Didcot, Faringdon, Newbury, Oxford, Reading, Swindon and Witney.

More about Howard
Howard has been in the computer business since 1980; starting out as an analyst/programmer then moving to become a Senior Scientific Officer responsible for Education and Training in Harwell's Computer Science Division.
Moving from here, Howard became UK and European Technical Sales Support Manager for an international software house, ending up as Head of Consultancy; specialising in information retrieval systems (forerunners of today's search engines, such as Google).
Building on his informational retrieval training, Howard worked on a Criminal Intelligence information system for the Home Office and a Records Management System for AEA Harwell.
Howard has worked all over Europe and his clients have included Research Machines, Esso, Inland Revenue, Cadbury, Abbey National, English Nature, Ministry of Agriculture, Shell (and lots more..!)

We have supported local charities ever since we began back in 1997. The first major sites we created were Lains Barn and The Vale and Downland Museum websites which we started around 1998. Other local websites we run without charge include...

We also sponsor a number of pages on www.wantage.com eg October Club, Wantage Churches Together, Letcombe Brook Project, Wantage Dickensian Evening, Wantage Summer Festival, Wantage Heritage Day, Wantage Rejuvenated, Wantage and Grove Street Pastors, Wantage JEF (Joint Economic Forum).
We also support websites for a couple of local start up companies Bertie Bear and Redcap Publishing and a Christian Mission in Thailand.
If you can think of a local (OX12 ) charity that would be helped by having website hosting, but they can't afford it, then please send us an email. No promises, but we will certainly look into each suggestion. Maybe you can contribute in some way too.
